With a direct booking via this homepage, by e-mail or telephone, you always get a price advantage compared to online booking platforms.
Our guests have names, not numbers
We put value on a enjoyable, family-like atmosphere. The majority of our staff supports us from the very beginning.
Active environmental protection: we are the one and only hotel in Nuremberg that invested in its own block heat and power plant. So we create our own energy and warmth and contribute our part to a conservative energy use.
Owing to health and environmental reasons we renounce of air conditioning. We also waive the daily cleaning of the rooms.
As the hotel only has 2 floors we are a hotel without an elevator. But we would be happy to help you with your luggage.
Committed to our guests and history: The building was built from sandstone in 1715. The original purpose was a customs station, but from 1877 it was also used as a restaurant and hotel at the edge of the old town of Nuremberg.
Nowadays Behringers City Hotel is a comfortable non-smoking-hotel for businessmen, families and tourists. Enjoy your stay in Nuremberg with us!

How a customs-station became
Behringer’s City Hotel
in 1715 the sandstone-building was built in Äußerer Sulzbacher Straße to be a customs-station and relay station for horses. On our parking-place, horses and hens had their stables.
1877 the customs-station was modificated to the hotel called „Drei Linden“ (three lime trees) including a pub. Already in the medieval age the route Nuremberg-Prague was an important trading-street and the placement of a hotel in front of the Nuremberg city walls an excellent idea. Horse and man relaxed and as soon as the city gates opened they were on their way to the market.
5 generations of the Zeuner-family run the pub and hotel in the last 200 years. The pub, later restaurant “Pilsner Urquell Stube”, offered an outstanding bohemian kitchen. But in the whole city it was better known as “Wirtsstube zu den Drei Linden”.
Then world war 2 came and destroyed 90% of Nurembergs old town. Not so the hotel Drei Linden. It was barely destroyed, but as the hotel was renovated in 1980, firebombs were found in the entablature.
1987 was the year of trouble. After family disputes, the headchef and son in law of the family head, decided to leave the “Drei Linden” and went his own ways. This was a heavy loss for the restaurant. Even though it still got its good reputation, it was never as good as before.
2002 hotel and restaurant were sold to an operating company and more renovations took place. The building got a second floor and now there was space for 38 guest rooms.
The restaurant was closed in 2012 and rebuild to the breakfast-room as we now know it. One Part of the restaurant which was called the “Nebenraum” was separated from the building- today you will find there a hairdresser. The former breakfast room and conference room became the reception and hotel-bar. 2023 the hotelbar became the reception and the reception the lobby with maxibar.
2016 the operating company decided to sell the hotel due to health-reasons and now we show up:
“We”, we are Ulrike Behringer, born in Nuremberg and Toni Behringer-Hansen, born in Köge, Denmark.
After our trainig in hotel- and restaurantbusiness each of us went his own way. This way led both of us to “Assmannshausen”, close to “Rüdesheim” in the “Rheingau”-Area. We worked as reception-manager and as sommelier in the hotel “Krone Assmannshausen” and decided that from now on we will walk our way together.
2003 we decided to return to Nuremberg and worked in several hotels and restaurants.
2006 we decided to became self-employed and rented the „Hotel Hamburg“ between Nuremberg and Fürth. It might be nice to know that our first child was born on the opening-day.
2010 our second child was born and 2014 we got the information that the contract will not be extended. A few months later we rented the Cine Hotel Maroni in Zirndorf.
2015 a lucky star led us to the “Hotel Drei Linden”. The hotel was for sale. This was the good news, but the bad news was that we did not have that much money and supporting the hotel-business is not very popular by the banks.
Nevertheless we fought as we could and finally found a bank which gave us the loan. In December 2015 we got our very own Christmas-miracle:
We signed the the purchase-contract of the hotel “Drei Linden”. From now on a new part of life started and we also wanted to express this in the hotel name. As the three lime trees were gone a long time ago because of roadworks, became the former customs-station Behringers City Hotel Nürnberg.
Above information was told us from neighbours and former staff, we can not guarantee if some of the information is incorrect. We are always open for more information or pictures.
